Prescription Drug – Comparison Shopping

Prescription Drug – Comparison Shopping

Prescription Drugs

The sad truth is many Americans have to decide between paying rent, eating, or taking their medication as prescribed.

My goal in this article is not just to save you money, but also to ensure money is not the reason you are unable to take the medications you need. It hurts my heart to hear individuals rationing out their prescribed medication. For those of us who have elderly loved ones, this can be a scary situation. Even if you do not take medication on a regular basis, please share the information below with someone you know that regularly depends on medications.

There are a lot of things in our life that we are not automatically wired to comparison shop. Prescription drugs are one of those items. We automatically assume there are standards to keep our communities healthy at a decent price. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The truth is you could be overspending for the drugs you need to keep you healthy. We are not talking about a few dollars. If you use my method below, you could potentially save thousands of dollars on prescription drugs and over the counter medications!

Talk to your doctor about drug affordability – The doctor’s interest is not always aligned with their patience’s. Doctors might not even know that you have a budgetary constraint even to consider other options. Have a conversation with your doctor about the costs of your prescribed medications to see if there is a more budget-friendly option your doctor can prescribe.

Call multiple pharmacies to comparison shop – Calling multiple pharmacies requires a lot of time on the phone. This request also does not take into account the relationship most individuals develop with their pharmacist and their staff. Unfortunately, calling around is a must to make sure you are getting the best price for your prescribed drugs and over the counter medication. You may have to ask some direct questions because sometimes pharmacists are bound by a “gag clause” and they are persuaded not to recommend cheaper drugs by drug companies.

Opt not to use insurance – This may sound counter-intuitive, but in some circumstances, you may come out on top. To get the best deal using this method focus more on comparison shopping, online coupons, and paying cash.

In my opinion, no one should go without food or a roof over their head to pay for prescription drugs. The System is broken. However, using these Hacks can help you or your loved one save thousands on their prescription costs.

While working with clients, Randall realized there was a missing process that individuals were not performing when choosing to use their money. Motivated to fill this gap, Randall developed three models to ‘Hack The System’ and allow individuals to Create Your Own System (CYOS). Randall hopes effectively using these models will help individuals identify the best moral and ethical use of their money.
